A False Replace Waste Toner Bottle message can be reset on these printers.
This message occurs when a new toner kit and waste bottle is installed
and the internal counter fails to reset. The waste toner bottle contains
a fuse, which, upon initial installation, temporarily pulls down the
input to a counter circuit to reset the counter. The fuse then opens.
If the counter fails to reset prior to the fuse opening you will receive
the replace waste toner bottle message.


1. Press and hold the Select and Printer Setup keys will powering on the printer. Release after the printer beeps.

2.
This will put the printer in the diagnostics mode and the display should read "PCU DIAG MODE X" The X will represent the ROM revision level.

3. Press and hold the UP ARROW and PREVIOUS keys together for about 3 seconds - you will see a message "FUSE FLAG RESET and you can release the keys.

4. You can now turn the printer off and then back on and the message should be gone.
