Print Guard Spray
Print Guard spray renders
an ink jet print more water resistant and increases light resistance.
The coating
is sprayed directly on to the image and then allowed to air
dry. Designed to provide a protective coating to images produced
using
water based ink jet inks, drawing inks and water colors, Print
Guard is a clear lacquer that, when applied to water soluble
images, greatly increases UV resistance to fading, reduces
the possibility of damage to the image, and provides a splash
proof
water resistance coat. Print Guard has the added benefit of
eliminating ‘bronzing’ or ‘gloss
differential’ effects that are prevalent when using some
pigment inks on gloss or luster papers. The type of finish
produced by Print Guard spray tends to mimic the base media
that it is
applied to - gloss or luster papers still maintain a high gloss
finish, where as matte or fine art papers absorb Print Guard
into the surface to provide a flat matte finish.
The increase in fade resistance offered by using Print Guard
varies from ink type to ink type. With dye based inks, the
useful display
life without noticeable fade can be increased by as much 100%
compared to an uncoated image. Even when applied to the latest
pigment ink
sets, such as Epson Ultrachrome™, Print Guard increases fade
resistance by more than double on some papers and canvas. Print
Guard is suitable for most types of ink jet media. A 400ml aerosol
will provide 2-3 protective coats on up to 20 8.5” x 11” images.
Also available in bulk 5 liter bottles for application by spray
gun.
Print Guard Brush On Lacquer
Print Guard brush on lacquer is a thicker version for application
by brush, roller or high viscosity spray equipment. Supplied
in 1 liter cans, Print Guard brush on lacquer is primarily designed
for use on uncoated fine art papers and canvas although it works
equally well on most media types. As well as providing the same
level of water protection and increased fade resistance as the
spray version, Print Guard lacquer also significantly lifts the
color of images produced on uncoated media.
Available in two finishes, gloss and satin, Print Guard lacquer
is also supplied in two versions - slow dry has a self leveling
effect to provide a uniform coating, and fast dry which can be
hand embellished with brush strokes if desired. A thinner is
available for the cleaning of application equipment.
